High Protein Egg White Oatmeal

High Protein Egg White Oatmeal

This spin on classic stovetop oatmeal is a MUST! We add egg whites to this recipe to create a creamy, decadent texture and also to add more protein to our first meal of the day. Highly recommend!

Side note: This recipe has almost 20 g of protein per serving. Wowza!

A high protein breakfast benefits muscle growth and health, promotes weight loss, aids in energy expenditure (calorie burn), and keeps you full for longer. This is the perfect meal to start your busy day!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whole grain, old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup milk (regular, almond, or oat)
  • 1/3 cup raw egg whites (yolk removed)
  • Pinch ground cinnamon
  • Optional toppings: fresh strawberries, honey, and butter of choice (I used granola butter)

Instructions:

  1. Add oats, 3/4 of the milk, and cinnamon to a small pot over medium/low heat.
  2. Cook, stirring frequently, until most of the liquid has been absorbed into the oats.
  3. Add the remaining milk and egg whites and continue to stir and cook until the rest of the liquid and eggs have cooked and absorbed into the oatmeal.
  4. The texture should be creamy.
  5. Serve and add preferred toppings.
  6. Enjoy!
