Where my pasta-lovers, at?! You can’t enjoy pasta without a killer sauce to go with it, and this one is definitely a winner. Bolognese is an Italian meat sauce that simmers over the stove all day to create the most magical meal for your belly. It’s so rewarding to take time to prepare something that takes longer than normal in the kitchen, right? This decadent, creamy, cheesy sauce is just a few simple steps to throw together, but tastes restaurant quality. Let’s get cooking!
Ingredients
- 4 strips bacon, chopped
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 cup finely chopped carrot
- 1 cup finely chopped celery
- 2 lbs lean, grass fed ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup dry wine
- 28 oz can diced tomatoes
- 16 oz can tomato sauce
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- End of a parmesan cheese block
Instructions
- Sauté bacon about 4 min on medium heat, until slightly crispy.
- Add onion, carrot, and celery and sauté in with the bacon about 5 minutes on medium heat, stirring frequently.
- • Add ground beef, ground pork, salt, and black pepper and brown fully, on medium heat.
- • Add white wine and reduce liquid into the meat, about 5 minutes.
- • Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Stir well and simmer on low heat for 3-4 hours. The longer the better!
- • When you’ve got about an hour before meal time, add chunk of Parmesan cheese to the pot and let it melt into the sauce - taste at this point and see if you need any additional S&P.
- • Serve over pasta of choice, top with fresh grated parm cheese, and enjoy!
