Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream

I am an ice cream lover, without a doubt. Some people like candy, cookies, cake, but ice-cream, that’s my sh**. I’ll admit something to you….. I usually keep a half gallon of Blue Bell in my freezer and I actually ate a bowl of Cookie Two Step for dinner one night this week. WHOOPS! But hey, we’re human and nobody’s perfect.

I found myself going to the Blue Bell more than usual and decided to toss the temptation and come up with something healthy that I can keep in the freezer that can kick my sweet tooth. I’ve seen people make banana ice cream but I had never tried it, and honestly I thought “how good could it actually be?”. Well my friends,


Gluten free, dairy free, vegan, and oh so delicious. Very simple to make too! Here’s my recipe below for a quick 5-step Peanut Butter Banana Ice-cream that will make your taste buds SCREAM FOR MORE ICECREAM!



Chop fresh bananas into about 1-inch pieces and place into a Zip-Lock baggie.

The batch I made had about 8 bananas in it, but you can always go bigger or smaller. 8 bananas made about 5 cups of ice-cream for me.



Freeze your banana pieces for 1-2 hours, or until solid. 

I had mine in the freezer for a day or two. Bananas stay good in the freezer for a while. I’ve frozen them as well to put in smoothies and what not. Always a good idea to have frozen fruit in the freezer for whatever you may need it for! 🙂



Place banana pieces into a food processor and blend until smooth. 

This is about 8 bananas in the photo above and it took me about 5-8 minutes to blend completely. If you don’t have a food processor, you can absolutely use a blender, but I would do it in batches. I took the top off about every minute or so to stir and move the chunks around. Be patient! It will eventually smooth out, I promise.



Once your bananas are a smooth texture, add 1 tbsp of Organic peanut butter (or any nut butter of your choice), 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract, and 1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon and blend until combined.

The nut butter, vanilla extract, and cinnamon are totally optional in this recipe. I tasted the blended bananas on their own and it tasted fantastic; still deliciously sweet. I just love cinnamon so I decided to experiment by adding a few extra ingredients to see how it came out.



Freeze about an hour, add your toppings, and ENJOY!
